As business processes become integrated with the Department of Defense (DOD), the DOD is now registering users of all closed networks and databases accessed by contractors, subcontractors and their mobile workforce. To reduce risk and comply with security regulations, DOD is requiring that all companies register through a public key infrastructure (PKI) and receive digital certificates. A PKI Certification is required for those users who do not already hold a CAC or TWIC identification credential. Beginning October 1, 2011 all vendors doing business with the DOD must meet these requirements!
